STATUARIETTO

The elegant web pattern. Statuarietto is an exceptionally versatile marble, celebrated for combining the bright, luminous white background of Statuario with a fine, continuous network of delicate grey veins. It is the definitive choice for creating consistent, sweeping aesthetics in large-scale luxury architecture.
01. ORIGIN

The Central Basins

Extracted predominantly from the central basins of the Apuan Alps, Statuarietto shares a similar geological genesis with pure Statuario. However, the micro-fractures in these specific layers filled with minerals more uniformly, resulting in its signature "spider-web" (ragnatela) appearance.
02. MATERIAL

The Fine Network

Unlike marbles with bold, isolated veins, the beauty of Statuarietto lies in its even distribution. The intricate grey veins cross the pristine white background constantly, making the slabs visually fascinating up close, yet remarkably uniform and cohesive when viewed from a distance.
03. DESIGN

Expansive Elegance

Statuarietto is the architect's problem-solver. It is highly specified for luxury hotel lobbies, expansive airport lounges, and large residential floor plans. Its busy, consistent pattern expertly disguises grout lines and foot traffic, creating seamless floors that feel bright and infinitely spacious.
04. ART

Refined Geometry

Because the veining in Statuarietto is fine and tight, it is an excellent material for cutting into intricate geometric tiles, such as herringbone or chevron patterns. It is also frequently carved into detailed classic moldings where larger veins might interrupt the carved shape.

Statuarietto - Technical & Professional FAQ

01. What defines Statuarietto marble?
It is a classic Carrara marble characterized by a very bright white background crossed by a dense, fine network of grey veins, often referred to as a "spider-web" pattern.
02. Statuarietto vs Statuario?
Scale is the difference. Statuario has massive, bold veins with large areas of pure white. Statuarietto has thinner, more frequent veins that cover the slab more evenly.
03. Statuarietto vs Bianco Carrara C?
Carrara C is 'cloudier' with softer, smudged veins. Statuarietto has sharper, more defined, and crisper grey lines on a whiter base.
04. Does the '-etto' suffix mean lower quality?
Not at all. In Italian stone terminology, the suffix simply denotes the smaller scale of the veining relative to Statuario.
05. Does it feature gold veins?
No, authentic Statuarietto is strictly monochromatic, featuring only pure white and varying shades of grey.
06. Where is it extracted?
It is quarried in the Apuan Alps, often from the exact same mountain basins that produce Statuario blocks.
07. Is it an accessible alternative to Statuario?
Yes. Because blocks yield a more consistent pattern, it is more abundant and therefore offers a more accessible price point for luxury aesthetics.
08. Is the pattern consistent across blocks?
Highly consistent. This is its greatest strength, making it the preferred choice for projects requiring thousands of square meters of matching material.
09. What is 'Venatino' Statuarietto?
It is a sub-selection where the fine web-like veins flow predominantly in one parallel direction rather than intersecting randomly.
10. Can it be used in modern minimalist design?
Yes, its crisp black-and-white (grey-and-white) graphic quality fits perfectly into modern, monochromatic design schemes.
11. What is its Mohs hardness?
It is a standard calcium carbonate marble, sitting between 3 and 4 on the Mohs scale.
12. Is it porous?
Yes, it has natural microporosity. A professional penetrating sealer is required to protect the white background from stains.
13. Does it handle heat?
Excellent heat resistance. It will not burn or melt, making it perfect for luxury fireplaces and radiant heated floors.
14. Standard slab thicknesses available?
We stock 20mm and 30mm slabs. We also produce 10mm calibrated tiles for flooring.
15. Best finish for large floors?
A honed (matte) finish is highly recommended for commercial spaces. It provides better slip resistance and hides micro-scratches from foot traffic.
16. Can it be used for exterior cladding?
It is possible in mild climates, but pollution and acid rain can dull the polish over time. Honed finishes are preferred outdoors.
17. Is it translucent?
Because the vein network is very tight, it blocks light more than pure white marbles, making it generally unsuitable for dramatic backlighting.
18. Does the white background turn yellow?
True Statuarietto does not yellow. Yellowing is an external issue caused by iron in water supplies or incorrect cleaning chemicals.
19. Can it be bookmatched?
Yes, but because the veins are small and web-like, the bookmatched effect is much subtler than the bold butterfly wings of Calacatta.
20. What is the weight per square meter?
For a standard 20mm slab, the weight is approximately 55 kilograms per square meter.
21. Is it good for kitchen countertops?
Aesthetically, it is stunning. Practically, owners must be prepared to manage etching from acidic foods (lemon, tomato, vinegar).
22. Does the pattern hide etching?
Yes! The dense, "busy" web pattern of Statuarietto is incredibly effective at camouflaging dull spots and water marks compared to pure white marbles.
23. Best applications for Statuarietto?
It excels in large-scale flooring, hotel lobbies, full bathroom cladding, and corporate reception areas.
24. Are mosaics available?
Yes, its fine grain makes it perfect for cutting into intricate herringbone, hexagon, and basketweave mosaics.
25. Suitable for shower bases?
Yes, if finished with a non-slip texture (sandblasted or heavily honed) and treated with professional waterproofing systems.
26. Best metals to pair with it?
Matte black hardware creates a striking, modern contrast, while polished chrome emphasizes its cold, clean aesthetics.
27. Wood pairings?
It pairs beautifully with medium-tone woods like natural Oak, which bring warmth to the cold grey-and-white stone.
28. Can you carve sinks from it?
Yes, its compact structure is perfect for 5-axis CNC carving of solid block vanities.
29. What edge profile suits it best?
A simple 'Eased' or 'Mitered Drop' edge works best, as heavy classical profiles can make the busy pattern look cluttered.
30. Can it be used on yachts?
Yes, it is very popular in marine design. We back 5mm veneers with aluminum honeycomb for lightweight, high-end installations.
31. Daily cleaning protocol?
Use only a clean microfiber cloth and a pH-neutral stone cleaner. Avoid all abrasive sponges and acidic sprays.
32. How often should floors be sealed?
For high-traffic commercial floors, professional penetrating sealers should be applied every 12 months.
33. What happens if a tile is damaged?
Because the pattern is highly consistent, it is much easier to replace a damaged Statuarietto tile years later than a highly veined Calacatta tile.
34. Mandatory installation materials?
Installers must strictly use rapid-setting WHITE thin-set. Grey adhesives will alter the brightness of the white background.
35. What color grout is best?
A very light grey or bright white non-sanded grout is recommended to make the seams disappear into the web pattern.
36. Do you supply cut-to-size formats?
Yes, we provide fully fabricated, numbered, and crated tiles based on your specific architectural CAD drawings.
37. How is it packed for export?
Tiles and slabs are packed vertically in ISPM-15 fumigated wooden crates, fully lined with shock-absorbing high-density foam.
38. Is the material sustainably sourced?
Yes, our quarries operate under strict Italian regulations ensuring water recycling and responsible land management.
39. Standard export lead times?
For large cut-to-size commercial projects, lead times generally range from 8 to 12 weeks depending on volume.
40. How do I request a commercial quote?
Email your Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and floor plans to info@marmidicarrara.com. Our technical office will provide a full proposal.
